Regulation and Behavior advances understanding and effective teaching about how organisms get what they need in order to survive and thrive.

Course Objectives

  • Examine the importance of homeostasis for living things
  • Identify how in animals physical traits and behaviors work together to promote homeostasis
  • Use prediction as a learning tool
  • Explore ways to use the classroom environment to enhance student learning
  • Examine the learning model used in this course

Course Syllabus

Session 1: Regulation
Explore how various types of organisms provide the conditions their cells require to survive and function properly. Teaching and learning strategies focus on the use of prediction as a learning tool and on ways to integrate a range of resources into classroom activities.

Session 2: Behavior
Examine animal behavior for survival, including its ability to respond to other organisms and to changing environmental conditions and internal states. Teaching and learning strategies focus on environments for learning.

Additional Course Information
