Earth in Time and Space

Earth in Time and Space advances your understanding and effective teaching about Earth's history, the Sun-Earth-Moon system, and broad temporal and spatial scales.

Course Objectives

• Develop content knowledge about Earth's history, the Sun-Earth-Moon system, and broad temporal and spatial scales
• Continue to explore inquiry-based learning models
• Continue to explore a media-rich learning environment to use with students
• Learn effective teaching methodologies, strategies, and tools for use in teaching earth and space science concepts

Course Syllabus

Session 1: Earth's History
Participants look at deep time and explore how the geological record helps us understand the long history of the Earth system.

Session 2: Broad Temporal and Spatial Scales
Participants investigate how the Sun-Earth-Moon system affects our world and examine ways to help students understand the vast scales associated with the solar system and universe.

Additional Course Information

• Third in a series of four course modules for teachers of earth and space science
• Other courses in the series:

We recommend course modules be taken in order. If this is not possible, it's important to have a basic knowledge of the content and methodology described in the preceding courses.
