Inquiry in Physical Science Education examines how using inquiry-based teaching and learning strategies can improve students' understanding of atomic and molecular structure and other topics in physical science.

Course Objectives

  • Explore how to bring the scientific process into the classroom as a teaching and learning tool
  • Understand and apply the essential elements of classroom inquiry

Course Syllabus

Session 1: Processes of Science
Participants examine how scientists investigate the natural world, and how teachers and students can apply scientific inquiry to better understand physical science.

Session 2: Inquiry in Science and Learning
Participants explore how the nature and sequence of learning opportunities improve students' understanding of physical science.

Additional Course Information

We recommend course modules be taken in order. If this is not possible, it's important to have a basic knowledge of the content and methodology described in the preceding courses.
