In this video segment from Between the Lions, two animated vowels walk down a road and are joined by other letters to make words as they go. The song explains the rule: "When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking." Words that appear on screen include: boat, meat, train, pail, rain, brain, soap, say, neat, beat, dream, pain, and plain. In each word, the first vowel gets larger and happier and the second vowel gets smaller and sadder as the rule is sang.
