Source: World War II Remembered - A Letter to David
The Ohio Digital Classroom helps students and educators succeed through the educational use of media-on-demand.
Drawn from a real letter, this video from WVIZ Cleveland, portrays a grandfather and veteran of World War II, who thoughtfully and carefully writes a letter to his grandson, David, about "the war." What was it like? How did it feel? How did it sound? Most of all, what did it mean to the country, to the fighting men and women, and to the citizenry, whose patriotic spirit drew avid support on the home front. This program is based on a true letter, and shown through original World War II footage. Topics include: Pearl Harbor, The Red Cross, Jeeps made in Toledo, The Pacific Theater, Columbus' Paul Tibbetts and the Enola Gay, The Tuskegee Black Airman's Squadron, Normandy, the G.I. Bill, and more.
