Questions for Discussion: Experimenting with a Pendulum
Why do you think weight doesn't seem to affect the time it takes a pendulum to swing back and forth? Could you construct a pendulum that swings forever? Why or why not? Describe some pendulum motions in your life. Does a pendulum always have to hang vertically? Do you think the slightly longer times the ZOOM cast members recorded when they held the pendulum back were real or were due to error? If you set up this experiment, how could you measure the period more accurately?
