LAUREN MCMULLEN: Hi, my name's Lauren McMullen, and I invented the screw stick. I love playing lacrosse, but I hate bringing my stick on the bus because it's too big to fit in my backpack. So I made a lacrosse stick be able to screw apart... into four separate pieces... to be able to fit into my backpack.
To make my invention, I first took my brother's old lacrosse stick and cut it into these four pieces. And then I took a plastic, P.V.C., which is a piping and glued it into the hollow center.
Then I took a metal screw and screwed it into the P.V.C. Last, I took this elastic and threaded it down the center, so you won't lose your pieces when it's apart. So now it will fit right into my backpack.
