Here are some Frame, Focus and Follow-up suggestions for using this video in a math lesson.
What is Frame, Focus and Follow-up?
Frame: There are many ways to describe a part of a whole. Money is often described in decimal amounts, whereas recipe measurements are usually fractions. Graphs, such as a pie chart, make use of the visual representation of a part of a whole. How about grades on a test? Many times your score is written as a percentage, such as 95%. If you understand the relationship between a percent, its fraction and its picture, you will find that you can often solve problems by substituting one form for another.
Focus: In this interactive game, match the percentage with the proper fraction and diagram. Note which ones, if any, that you have trouble with.
