Here are some Frame, Focus and Follow-up suggestions for using this video in a math lesson.
What is Frame, Focus and Follow-up?
Frame: If we were to look at a graph of the ages of players on a high school baseball team, we would probably see a range of ages. What would you estimate the age of the oldest player would be? How about the age of the youngest player? How old do you think most of the players would be?
Focus: As you watch this video segment, notice that Bianca has a graph with sales data showing the number of shoes sold in different women's sizes. How does she use this data to figure out how many boxes of each size she should order?
Follow Up: Although Bianca was able to read the sales data accurately, her ordering decision didn’t work out so well. Why? Given the same data, what sizes and quantities would you have ordered?
